The us house of representatives approved additional funding for the country’s Postal service in the amount of $ 25 billion on Saturday. This is reported by TASS.
The allocated money will be spent, in particular, on increasing the level of processing mail for voting by mail in the upcoming presidential elections in November.
The bill cancels previously introduced measures to reduce costs in post offices. At the same time, it is indicated that the Republican-controlled Senate of Congress is unlikely to support such an initiative.
In addition, the White house announced that the President of the United States Donald trump will veto the bill if it gets to his Desk. The Postal service warned the authorities of American States about the likelihood of delays in the voting process.
The American leader opposes voting by mail. In his opinion, the upcoming presidential elections in November will be vulnerable to interference from abroad. Trump allowed that other countries could intercept ballots or print fakes. He claims that due to possible violations in this way, the upcoming elections in November may become the most dishonest in history. At the same time, it was later reported that trump and his wife Melania will vote in the primaries by mail.
The us election is scheduled for November 3, 2020.
